The World Poker Tour is set to return to the Bellagio on the Las Vegas strip this October. The 2022 WPT Five Diamond Poker Classic will run from Oct. 7 – 23. The Five Diamond had been held at Bellagio since 2002, making it the longest-running stop on the tour.
“WPT Five Diamond is one of the longest-running and most prestigious annual events in the poker world,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Our partnership with Bellagio and their team has been instrumental to the continued success of this event.”
The centerpiece of the whole affair will be the $5,000,000 guaranteed $10,400 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event, which will take place from Oct. 19-23. Past champions of this tournament include legends of the game like inaugural winner Gus Hansen, poker Hall of Famer Daniel Negreanu, 2005 WSOP main event champion Joe Hachem, recent World Series of Poker bracelet winner Dan Smith, Antonio Esfandiari, Alex Foxen, and many more.
In 2021, Taylor Black beat out a field of 761 entries to earn $1,241,430 and add his name to the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup.
In addition to the main event, the Five Diamond festival will also play host to a number of high-stakes events, including two $50,000 buy-in tournaments and a $25,000 buy-in high roller.
“There is plenty of appetite in Las Vegas for big action in the fall,” said Mike Williams, Director of Poker Operations at Bellagio. “Five Diamond is an essential staple of the annual poker schedule and our team looks forward to hosting all of the upcoming events.”
This series, like all other WPT stops, will see players in each event on the schedule be eligible to earn points towards the WPT Player of the Festival leaderboard, which awards a $1,100 WPT Prime passport to the player with the most points accrued by the festival’s end.
